What’s inside:
This article shares details about the upcoming semi-high-speed train services in India, specifically in Punjab and Haryana, and the expansion of Vande Bharat Express trains.
These days, the Vande Bharat Express trains are becoming very popular among travelers in India. They are running in many big cities across the country. Soon, semi-high-speed trains will also start in Punjab, Haryana, and other states. The railway officials mentioned that passengers won’t have to wait long as these trains will start operating from December.
Currently, four new Vande Bharat train sets are ready, and the routes will be finalized soon. This will allow people in these areas to experience travel on semi-high-speed trains. Right now, there are about 156 Vande Bharat trains running, connecting over 100 cities in 24 states, including major states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
Most of these trains operate between capital cities and other major towns, providing passengers with airline-like comfort and the thrill of high-speed travel. The Vande Bharat Express has reduced travel time on several old routes by about 25-30%. Each train comes equipped with modern seating, automatic doors, GPS-based information systems, and onboard catering services.
For the future, the railway plans to introduce 90 more Vande Bharat trains. This number is more than what has been produced in the last seven years combined. As more trains are built, they will start running on tracks, connecting not just big cities but also smaller towns and tourist or religious spots across the country.
Railway officials aim to connect every state capital to the Vande Bharat network by 2026. They are also redesigning railway stations with better facilities like clean platforms, digital signboards, and improved waiting lounges to enhance passenger experience.
