Train delays caused major inconvenience to passengers on December 31, 2025, affecting their New Year celebrations.

On the last day of 2025, train services faced significant delays, leaving many passengers frustrated. Trains scheduled to arrive at various times were delayed by several hours, making it hard for people to reach home for New Year celebrations.

For instance, the Tejas Express from New Delhi, which was supposed to arrive at 8:35 PM, reached Kanpur Central at 2:45 AM the next day. Similarly, the Shram Shakti Express, originally set for a 6:20 AM arrival, got delayed by seven hours, arriving at 1:20 PM instead.

In total, around 62 trains were delayed, with some like the Barauni-New Delhi Special arriving 17 hours late. The foggy weather was cited as a major reason for these delays, affecting both long-distance and local trains.

Passengers expressed their dissatisfaction on social media, highlighting their struggles waiting in the cold. The railway authorities had to cancel over a thousand journeys, and many travelers were left waiting at stations without timely updates.

Looking ahead, the regular operation of the Jhansi-Lucknow Intercity train will resume from January 3, after previous cancellations due to fog. Passengers can expect more reliable services as the railway works to improve conditions.

  • Train services were delayed across multiple routes on December 31, 2025.

  • Tejas Express and other major trains faced hours of delay.

  • Foggy weather was the primary cause of the disruptions.

  • Passengers reported frustration and some journeys were canceled.

  • Regular services for Jhansi-Lucknow Intercity to restart on January 3.
