A new Vande Bharat Express train has arrived in Kerala, improving train service on the Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram route.
A new 20-coach Vande Bharat Express train has reached Kerala from Chennai. It arrived on Tuesday and is expected to improve train travel between Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram.
The train was handed over to Southern Railway after being inspected in Chennai. It left for Kerala and will stop at Palakkad before reaching Mangaluru.
This specific Vande Bharat service, numbered 20631/20632, currently has 16 coaches and runs via Alappuzha. With this upgrade, it will expand to 20 coaches, increasing seating capacity from 1,016 to 1,336 passengers.
Previously, another Vande Bharat train running from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod was also upgraded to 20 coaches this January. Such expansions aim to provide better travel options for passengers.
The exact start date for the new service will be announced soon after another inspection at the Mangaluru depot. The upgrade promises to enhance the travel experience for many commuters.
