What’s inside:
A train accident involving the Vande Bharat Express led to the death of two cows, causing a delay in the train schedule.
On Monday afternoon, around 3:30 PM, the Vande Bharat Express train, which was traveling from Agra to Udaipur, hit two cows near the Fatehpur Sikri railway station. The collision resulted in the death of both cows and damage to the train’s front end.
The train’s engine was affected, but the loco pilot quickly applied the emergency brakes to stop the train. After the incident, the loco pilot and assistant loco pilot worked on repairing the damaged engine. The train remained halted for about half an hour before continuing its journey to Udaipur.
This Vande Bharat Express runs three days a week. On the same Monday, it reached Agra on time and left for Udaipur as scheduled. At the time of the accident, the train was moving at a speed of 70 km/h and had already covered 500 meters past the Fatehpur Sikri station.
Just before the accident, two cows suddenly appeared on the tracks near the Islamganj railway gate. This caused the train’s bumper to break. Many passengers got down from the train and stepped onto the tracks while waiting for the situation to be resolved.
After the repairs, the train finally resumed its journey to Udaipur around 4 PM. Meanwhile, there have been past incidents at the same railway crossing, leading to calls for better safety measures like boundary walls along the tracks.
