This article talks about the new first-class sleeper compartment for Vande Bharat trains unveiled in New Delhi.
A new first-class sleeper compartment for the Vande Bharat trains was shown off in New Delhi at the IREE 2025 event, which happened from October 15 to 17. This mockup is part of a big contract with Indian Railways.
The design was created for a project worth around 6.5 billion USD to supply and maintain 120 electric trains. This project is a collaboration between Kinet Railway Solutions, a partnership of Transmashholding and RVNL from India, marking a significant step in the Indian-Russian railway sector.
This new compartment focuses on making long journeys comfortable for passengers. It includes personal USB chargers, lamps, and more storage space for bags and bottles. The design also features a modern look for the train’s exterior, keeping up with the latest trends in automotive design.
In 2023, a consortium led by TMH won a contract to develop and service 1,920 long-distance electric train cars for Indian Railways over the next 35 years. The production site in Latur, Maharashtra, is being upgraded, and training for staff is already in progress.
Construction of a new depot in Jodhpur, Rajasthan is also underway, and an engineering center is already operational in Hyderabad, Telangana. These developments suggest significant improvements in railway services soon.
