Vikramshila & Farakka Express: New Timings & Winter Cancellations

Passengers traveling on the Vikramshila Express and Farakka Express need to prepare for significant changes to their travel itineraries. Indian Railways has announced revised schedules for these services effective October 28, 2026, as part of an initiative to enhance operational efficiency and route clearance.
Vikramshila Express Timing Adjustments
The daily Vikramshila Express (Train No. 12367), which runs between Bhagalpur and Anand Vihar Terminal, will undergo a schedule shift. To improve crossing management and maintain better speed control across its 1,209-kilometer journey, the arrival time at the destination has been modified.
- Previous Arrival at Anand Vihar Terminal: 7:20 AM
- New Arrival at Anand Vihar Terminal: 7:35 AM
Farakka Express Schedule Updates
The Farakka Express series is also seeing timing revisions to streamline route operations. These changes will be rolled out on different dates:
- Train No. 15734 (Bathinda-Balurghat Farakka Express): New timings will be effective from October 28, 2026.
- Train No. 15744: New timings will be implemented starting October 29, 2026.
Major Winter Cancellations Due to Fog
In anticipation of the heavy fog season in North India, the North Central Railway has introduced measures to mitigate operational risks. This has resulted in the complete cancellation of specific services during the peak winter months.
The Malda Town-New Delhi New Farakka Express (Train No. 14003) will be fully cancelled from December 5, 2026, to March 2, 2027. Similarly, its return service, the New Delhi-Malda Town New Farakka Express (Train No. 14004), will remain cancelled from December 3, 2026, to February 28, 2027.
Railway officials noted that these adjustments are necessary to manage seasonal weather patterns and ensure smoother train movements during the upcoming fog season.
