Western Railway Launches Festival Special Trains for Mumbai Bhavnagar and Delhi Routes
Western Railway has officially announced the operation of two festival special trains to comfortably accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Paryushan and Diwali festive seasons. The announcement made on September 11 2026 aims to significantly improve passenger convenience across key routes connecting Mumbai with Gujarat and the national capital. Travellers can now plan their journeys better with these special services introduced to manage heavy festival rushes.
Bandra Terminus to Bhavnagar Terminus Paryushan Special
The Bandra Terminus-Bhavnagar Terminus superfast special train is being introduced under Train Numbers 09023 and 09024 for the Paryushan festival. Train No. 09023 will depart from Bandra Terminus at 7:25 PM on September 15 2026 and arrive at Bhavnagar Terminus at 10:30 AM on September 16 2026. For the return journey Train No. 09024 will depart from Bhavnagar Terminus at 5:40 PM on September 16 2026 and reach Bandra Terminus at 7:25 AM on September 17 2026. This train composition includes Second AC Third AC Sleeper and General coaches to suit various travel budgets. It features scheduled halts at Sihor Songadh Dhola Botad Ahmedabad Anand Vadodara Surat Valsad Vapi and Borivali stations.
Dadar to Hazrat Nizamuddin Special Service
To cater to the Diwali rush Western Railway will operate the Dadar-Hazrat Nizamuddin Special Train under Train No. 04001. Please note that these special festival services will operate on special fares as part of the broader Indian Railways initiative to effectively manage festive travel demand without disrupting regular train schedules.
Ticket Booking Details
Ticket bookings for the Bandra Terminus-Bhavnagar Terminus service (Train Nos. 09023/09024) officially opened on September 11 2026. Meanwhile bookings for the Dadar-Hazrat Nizamuddin special (Train No. 04001) commenced on September 12 2026. Passengers can book their tickets easily through all authorised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters or via the official IRCTC website and mobile app.
