Western Railway introduces revised Mumbai local train timetable from September 1

Mumbai commuters must note that Western Railway has announced a revised timetable for its suburban local train services, which officially becomes effective from September 1, 2026. Confirmed by railway officials on August 31, 2026, this vital update is designed to optimize operations and better align the crowded network with shifting passenger demands. Although the total count of daily services remains unchanged at 1,414, the railway administration is actively introducing six new suburban services while withdrawing six existing ones to streamline travel. Commuters will benefit from two new Up services and four Down services tailored to ease peak and late-night congestion. Specific additions include a Bhayandar to Virar local departing at 7:46 am and arriving at 8:12 am, a Borivali to Bhayandar service departing at 10:14 pm and arriving at 10:30 pm, and a Borivali to Virar service departing at 10:51 pm and arriving at 11:33 pm. Furthermore, passengers can utilize a Borivali to Bhayandar train departing at 12:28 am and arriving at 12:46 am, a Bandra to Churchgate service departing at 11:58 am and arriving at 12:30 pm, and a Virar to Borivali late-night service departing at 11:51 pm and reaching its destination at 12:26 am. Meanwhile, six existing services are being withdrawn, including two AC Fast locals and four others operating between the Churchgate and Borivali sectors.
