Winter Train Cancellations: 13 Indian Railways Trains Affected

Indian Railways has issued a major update regarding winter train cancellations and operational adjustments to manage the upcoming fog season. To ensure passenger safety and maintain punctuality amidst expected dense fog and low visibility, several services across the Moradabad division and North Central Railway will face disruptions from December 2026 through February 2027.
Major Train Cancellations and Suspensions
Several long-distance services will be completely suspended during the peak winter months. Passengers planning to travel on these routes should take note of the following schedule changes:
- Prayagraj-Muzaffarpur Express (14112) and the Muzaffarpur-Prayagraj Express (14111): Both services will be suspended from December 2, 2026, to February 24, 2027.
- Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Kolkata Express (22198): This service is cancelled from December 4, 2026, until February 26, 2027.
- Kolkata-Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Express (22197): The return service will be suspended from December 6, 2026, to February 28, 2027.
Reduced Frequency for Intercity Services
Beyond full cancellations, some popular routes will operate on a modified schedule to mitigate the impact of seasonal weather conditions:
- Agra Fort-Lucknow Intercity Express: Starting December 1, 2026, this train will operate with a reduced frequency of only five days per week through February 2027.
- Agra Cantt-Hoshiarpur Express: Similar operational changes and frequency modifications have also been mandated for this route.
Why These Changes Are Happening
The decision to implement these winter train cancellations and frequency reductions is a proactive measure by the North Central Railway. During the winter months, dense fog often leads to extremely low visibility, which can cause massive delays and safety concerns. By adjusting the schedules now, the railways aim to maintain better punctuality and ensure a safer journey for all passengers.
Important Travel Advisory: Passengers are strongly advised to verify the current status of their trains through official railway platforms or the IRCTC website before planning their journeys to avoid any last-minute disruptions.
