Local citizens have launched an active public campaign advocating for improved regional connectivity to major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ajmer, and Jammu-Kashmir. Political intervention in the matter was initiated on June 12, 2026, when Member of Parliament Afzal Ansari formally wrote to the General Manager of the North Eastern Railway requesting mandatory stoppages for seven key trains, specifically naming the Swatantrata Senani Express, Kamayani Express, and the Bhrigu Superfast Express. Operational Delays and Infrastructure Upgrades
