Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inspected the under-construction multilevel hub and underground subway near Patna Junction. During the inspection, he visited the top floor of the three-story multilevel hub, where Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, provided a detailed overview of the construction through a site plan.

Key Features of the Multilevel Hub

  • The hub will have parking facilities for 32 buses and 225 cars.
  • It will be directly connected to Buddha Smriti Park and Patna Railway Junction via a subway.
  • This connection will ensure easy access for people parking their vehicles to reach Patna Junction without facing any inconvenience.
  • The construction is expected to ease traffic congestion around Patna Junction and also facilitate access to Hanuman Temple nearby.

Chief Minister’s Instructions

The Chief Minister directed the officials to speed up the construction process. He also suggested installing solar panels on the roof of the multilevel parking to meet the electricity requirements of the facility.

Inspection of the Subway

Following the hub inspection, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the subway that will connect Patna Junction to the multilevel parking. The project aims to improve the traffic management around Patna Junction. The multilevel parking hub is being constructed near Patna GPO Roundabout to serve as a major hub connecting various transport modes like city buses, autos, taxis, and private cars.

The subway will provide a link between Patna Railway Station, Mahavir Temple, and Buddha Park. The subway will span a total length of 440 meters, with four travelators of varying lengths: 18 meters, 30 meters, 45 meters, and 55 meters, making up a total of 148 meters. It will also include two escalators and two underground lifts near Mahavir Temple and the multilevel parking. Additionally, the underground area will have air-conditioning and health ventilation systems. There will be entry and exit points near Buddha Smriti Park, Patna Junction, and Hanuman Temple. This subway is designed to ease movement for train passengers and eliminate traffic jams around the station. Pedestrians will also benefit by using the subway to reach the multilevel parking and travel to various locations.

Chief Minister’s Remarks

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized that the subway is being constructed to address the traffic congestion near Patna Junction, where heavy footfall makes crossing roads difficult and increases the risk of accidents. The subway is expected to significantly reduce these challenges. He urged that the construction work be completed promptly to provide ease of movement to passengers and free them from traffic-related issues.

Officials Present at the Inspection

Several senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection, including:

  • Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Minister of Water Resources
  • Nitin Nabin, Minister of Urban Development and Housing
  • Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister
  • Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department
  • Kumar Ravi, Secretary to the Chief Minister

  • Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, District Magistrate of Patna
  • Rajeev Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna
  • Tirshat Kapil Ashok, Chairman of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited
