Special Train Arrangements for Diwali and Chhath
During the festive seasons of Diwali and Chhath, the demand for railway travel significantly increases as many people return to their homes. In response to this surge, the Railway Board has initiated special preparations to manage the expected crowds, particularly in Bihar. DRM Vinay Srivastava announced that approximately 75 pairs of special trains will be operational to accommodate the influx of passengers. Additional PRS ticket counters will be established in key stations, including Samastipur, Darbhanga, and Saharsa, to facilitate ticket reservations and manage the anticipated heavy passenger traffic.
Safety and Monitoring Measures
To ensure safety during the festivities, trains will operate at a cautious speed of 30 kilometers per hour on all railway sections in the Samastipur Railway Division, especially in areas where Chhath Ghats are located. Train drivers have been instructed to maintain a continuous whistle sound while passing these sections. Furthermore, officers from various departments will be stationed at 11 different railway stations to monitor crowd control 24/7. Banners providing information about special trains will be displayed around booking and inquiry counters, while a dedicated war room will be established in the division’s control room to oversee arrangements and respond to any emergent needs.
Platform Management and Communication Protocols
In an effort to maintain order and efficiency, the DRM emphasized that scheduled train platforms will not be changed at the last minute. Any necessary changes will be communicated to passengers at least one hour in advance or with adequate notice to avoid confusion. Continuous announcements will keep travelers informed, and no platform changes will be made without the approval of the ADRM, ensuring a streamlined travel experience during the busy holiday period.
