What is the status of Kota-Bhopal Rail Line?

The Ramganj Mandi-Bhopal new rail line is an ambitious project costing ₹3,035 crore. Out of the total 276 km length, 187 km of work is already complete. The Kota division has finished 145 km of track out of its 165 km share. The remaining 89 km section covering Biaora, Sonkatch, Narsinghgarh, and Kurawar is expected to be finished by the 2026-27 financial year, with a target to start operations by March 2027.

General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh performed a window trailing inspection of the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section to check track and signaling. He also tested the Kavach safety system in a loco from Sawai Madhopur to Lakheri. This trial included loop line speed tests, auto-breaking distance, and auto-whistling on curved tracks to ensure passenger safety.
