Train Services During Diwali-Chhath
During the Diwali and Chhath festivals, many individuals working outside Bihar return home to celebrate with their families. However, this year, those coming back from abroad are facing challenges in securing confirmed train tickets, leading to widespread disappointment. To address the high demand for travel during this festive season, the Railway Board is optimizing the schedules of approximately seven thousand trains. The Northern Railway (NR) has launched a special initiative to increase train services specifically for passengers traveling to North Bihar.
Special Train Operations by Northern Railway
Northern Railway has announced plans to operate around 200 additional train trips from its major stations, including New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Gonda, and Gorakhpur, to various destinations in North Bihar. Notably, 11 pairs of trains will be running via Muzaffarpur, with services extended to critical junctions in North Bihar such as Patna, Danapur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Jaynagar, Sitamarhi, and Raxaul. The General Manager of NR has officially notified these operations to ensure smoother travel for the festive season.
Increased Train Frequency and Schedule
Train operations commenced on Saturday and will continue for a total of 13 days, concluding on November 7. With Diwali falling on October 31 and Chhath following shortly after, there is an expected surge in passenger traffic from Delhi and surrounding areas. To accommodate this increase, the Northern Railway has decided to run 65 more trips than in the previous year. The initiative aims to alleviate seating issues for travelers, ensuring that many can enjoy the Diwali and Chhath festivals with their loved ones. Some of the trains included in this special service are the New Delhi-Jayanagar, Anand Vihar-Sitamarhi, and Delhi-Darbhanga routes, among others.
