Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a significant infrastructure boost for the East Central Railway with a new Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract. The project, valued at **₹358.97 crore including 18% GST**, focuses on enhancing rail capacity within the Samastipur Division of Bihar. This development is expected to play a vital role in improving the efficiency of the Sitamarhi-Raxaul rail corridor.

Scope of Infrastructure Work
RVNL has been tasked with comprehensive civil works to ensure the corridor meets modern safety and load-bearing standards. The scope of the contract is extensive, covering essential earthwork, blanketing, and the construction of both minor and major bridges along the route. Beyond the tracks, the project includes the construction of new station buildings and platforms, along with necessary level crossing works to ensure operational safety.
Boosting Connectivity in Bihar
This infrastructure development is a strategic move to strengthen railway connectivity in the eastern region of Bihar. By doubling the existing line, Indian Railways aims to significantly **increase line capacity and reduce congestion** on this busy corridor. RVNL officially received the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and confirmed the contract details in a disclosure to the stock exchange on **Tuesday, July 28, 2026**.
