A new 20-coach Vande Bharat Express train has arrived in Kerala to enhance the Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram service.



A new 20-coach Vande Bharat Express train has reached Kerala from Chennai. This train aims to improve travel on the Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram route. It arrived on Tuesday after being handed over to the Southern Railway on Monday.

This train was made at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. Before it started its journey, it was inspected at the Chennai Basin Bridge. After that, it made its way to Mangaluru, passing through Palakkad.


Currently, the Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat train, which operates with 16 coaches through Alappuzha, will be upgraded to 20 coaches. This means the seating capacity will increase from 1,016 to 1,336. The exact starting date for this upgraded service will be announced after an inspection at the Mangaluru depot.

In addition, the Thiruvananthapuram–Kasargod Vande Bharat train was already expanded from 16 to 20 coaches back on January 10. This expansion is part of efforts to enhance passenger comfort and capacity on popular routes.


Passengers can expect more seats and better service with this new train. The authorities will share the starting date soon, ensuring everyone is informed in advance.
