Kinet Railway Solutions Limited is making steady progress on the development of its first Vande Bharat Sleeper train. The company has already completed the first fully integrated car body and the head coach body at its Latur facility. This project is part of a larger plan to modernize long-distance travel in India.
ℹ: Train Update: Additional coaches added to Sabarmati-Jaisalmer and Udaipur-Asarwa services।
Who is manufacturing the Kinet Vande Bharat Sleeper
Kinet Railway Solutions Limited is a joint venture between the Russian company TMH (Transmashholding) and India’s Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). This partnership is tasked with the manufacturing and maintenance of 120 Vande Bharat Sleeper trainsets, which will include a total of 1,920 coaches for Indian Railways.
What is the current status and launch date
The company has already worked on the exterior design and a mock-up of the sleeper compartment. While there were earlier targets for a June rollout, RVNL has now revised the timeline. The first prototype of the Kinet Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to be launched for testing in December 2026.
How is it different from other Vande Bharat Sleepers
It is important to note that Kinet is a different manufacturer from BEML. While BEML developed the first operational Vande Bharat Sleeper running between Howrah and Kamakhya, Kinet is developing its own version. Recently, a second BEML-developed train arrived in Bengaluru on July 1, 2026, for final testing before its launch on the Bengaluru-Mumbai route.
