The railways moved more goods and carried more people in June 2026 compared to the previous year. Freight earnings grew by 3%, adding about ₹430 crore in revenue. Passenger travel also saw a rise in both long-distance and local suburban trains.

On July 3, 2026, the Ministry approved two major projects to improve speed and safety. A ₹135 crore rail flyover will be built between Bondamunda ‘A’ and ‘B’ cabins to reduce congestion.
