What’s inside:

This article provides updates on train cancellations and services in Jammu due to recent heavy rains and flooding.

The Northern Railway has decided to cancel 68 trains coming in and going out from Jammu and Katra stations. This cancellation will last until September 30. The decision comes after rail traffic in the Jammu railway division has been stopped for the last eight days due to damage from heavy rains.

The Pathankot-Jammu section has suffered from misalignment and breaches, making it unsafe for trains. Since August 26, the Jammu region has experienced severe rain, causing major disruptions in both rail and road traffic. Many pilgrims and other travelers have been stranded as a result.

To help the stranded passengers, special shuttle services are being run between Jammu Tawi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Additionally, trains are operating on routes like Jammu Tawi-Kolkata and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi. Four shuttle trains will run in the Jammu-Katra section from September 1 to 15.

The Railways has also restored some of its services, including Sampark Kranti, Sealdah Express, Kantri Express, and Vande Bharat trains. Shuttle services are specifically set up for locals and those stuck between Jammu and Katra. The Vande Bharat train is set to begin operations again from September 7.

Passengers can expect to see changes in train operations, with certain services being reintroduced. It’s important for travelers to check updated schedules and make plans accordingly as the situation develops with railway services.

Summary:

  • 68 trains from Jammu and Katra are canceled until September 30.

  • Heavy rains caused significant damage to the railway tracks.

  • Special shuttle services are running for stranded passengers.

  • Some train services have been restored, including Vande Bharat.

  • Passengers should check schedules for the latest updates.
