Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has officially announced the restoration of halts for two major express trains at Samba Railway Station, effective from August 19, 2026. This initiative is part of a larger effort to boost regional transport infrastructure and address the long-standing travel requirements of local commuters.
Key updates for passengers include:
- Jammu Tawi – Barmer Express (Train No. 14662) will halt at Samba at 10:54 PM and depart at 10:56 PM.
- Jammu Tawi – Pune Junction Express (Train No. 11078) is scheduled to arrive at 12:05 AM and depart at 12:07 AM.
- Both trains will observe a two-minute halt duration.
- The Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express (Train Nos. 19223/19224) is confirmed to begin its scheduled halt at Samba starting in October 2026.
Expansion of Rail Services in Jammu
This latest announcement follows the successful restoration of stops for six other trains at the station on August 15, 2026. These service expansions are a direct response to persistent public demand from the residents of Samba. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager for the Jammu Division, emphasized that these changes are specifically designed to improve passenger amenities for the local community.
The advocacy for these additional halts was spearheaded by the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Jammu, Jugal Kishore Sharma, who has been instrumental in pushing for better connectivity across the region. Officials believe that restoring these stops will significantly benefit a diverse group of commuters, including pilgrims visiting the region, students, local employees, and traders. By improving accessibility, the railway administration aims to foster both regional tourism and local business growth.
