The Jhansi Railway Division has officially taken a major step toward resolving long-standing traffic issues by issuing a tender for the construction of a new Rail Overbridge (ROB) at the Hansari Railway Crossing. This critical infrastructure project is set to transform connectivity for commuters navigating the busy Jhansi-Lalitpur and Jhansi-Banda rail routes, where traffic congestion has long been a significant concern for local residents.
Key highlights of the Hansari ROB project include:
• Estimated project cost of Rs 114.24 crore.
• Proposed bridge length of approximately 1.20 kilometers.
• Infrastructure design featuring a 15-meter width to support four-lane vehicular traffic.
• Targeted completion timeline of two years from the commencement of construction.
Advancing Infrastructure Development
Manoj Kumar Singh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Jhansi Rail Division, confirmed that the project has reached an advanced stage of planning. The Railway Gati Shakti Department has already completed the necessary inspections and provided formal approval for the architectural drawings. Furthermore, the essential administrative formalities and surveys regarding the construction of approach roads have been successfully finalized, clearing the path for physical work to begin.
One of the most complex aspects of the project involved land situated within the local Army jurisdiction. Railway officials successfully navigated these hurdles through collaborative discussions with relevant government departments, ensuring that the project remains on track. The initiative has also received significant backing from local Member of Parliament, Anurag Sharma, who has been instrumental in advocating for this infrastructure upgrade.
Next Steps for Construction
With the tender officially issued in July 2026 and the design plans now locked in, the administration is preparing for a swift rollout. Construction is scheduled to commence as soon as the final official approvals are secured. This ROB is expected to provide substantial relief to thousands of daily commuters, significantly reducing the waiting time currently experienced at the Hansari level crossing and ensuring smoother, safer transit across the rail lines.
