Regional Station Upgrades
On August 19, 2026, North Western Railway General Manager Pankaj Sharma inspected Rewari station to monitor critical infrastructure projects. He directed officials to expedite the construction of the Central Crew Lobby, Route Relay Interlocking Tower, Integrated Running Room, and the Sub-Divisional Hospital. These facilities are essential for improving both operational safety and the working conditions of railway staff.
Simultaneously, in the Sonpur division, Divisional Railway Manager Amit Saran visited Shahpur Patori station. As part of the Amrit Bharat Railway Station Scheme, the station is receiving significant upgrades, including the installation of a coach restaurant and AC units at booking counters. During his inspection, Saran emphasized the need for better lighting and cleanliness, ordering an immediate acceleration of all pending tasks to improve the passenger experience.
National Infrastructure Expansion
At the national level, the Union Cabinet has greenlit four major multi-tracking railway projects spanning West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. With an estimated investment of 9,450 crore rupees, these tracks are expected to significantly boost capacity and connectivity. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that these initiatives, which form part of a larger 13,000 crore rupee investment in rail and road infrastructure, are vital for stimulating long-term economic growth across the country. The government remains committed to completing these strategic projects by the 2030-31 fiscal year to ensure a more robust and efficient national rail network.
