Indian Railways is set to boost connectivity between Bihar and Gujarat with the introduction of a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express service connecting Bhagalpur and Ahmedabad. Starting operations on August 26, 2026, this new train replaces the existing 09447/09448 Ahmedabad–Patna Clone Special to better cater to the high demand for long-distance travel.
Key highlights of the new service include:
- Service commencement date: August 26, 2026
- Train numbers: 19423 (Ahmedabad to Bhagalpur) and 19424 (Bhagalpur to Ahmedabad)
- Booking start date: August 21 (Friday) via IRCTC website, mobile app, and PRS counters
- Travel time: Approximately 36 hours and 10 minutes to 36 hours and 40 minutes
- Operational speed: Capable of running at 110 to 130 km/h
Connecting Eastern and Western India
The introduction of this service is a significant step by the Eastern Railway to streamline passenger movement between the eastern and western corridors. The train will be composed of general unreserved and sleeper class coaches, specifically designed to provide affordable travel options for the common man.
Schedule and Route Details
Train number 19423 will depart from Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6:30 PM, reaching Bhagalpur at 6:40 AM on Friday. For the return journey, 19424 will depart from Bhagalpur every Friday at 4:45 PM, arriving in Ahmedabad at 5:25 AM on Sunday.
Passengers can expect a comprehensive list of scheduled halts, ensuring connectivity across multiple major junctions. The train will stop at Anand, Chhayapuri, Godhra, Dahod, Ratlam, Bhawani Mandi, Ramganj Mandi, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Hindaun City, Bayana, Idgah Agra, Tundla, Govindpuri, Subedarganj, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Buxar, Ara, Danapur, Patna, Bakhtiyarpur, Mokama, Kiul, Abhaipur, Jamalpur, and Sultanganj.
Future Expansion
Beyond the Bhagalpur–Ahmedabad route, the Ministry of Railways is also gearing up to launch another Amrit Bharat Express connecting Gorakhpur and Delhi. This ongoing initiative reflects the national carrier’s commitment to enhancing long-distance rail infrastructure for low and lower-middle-income passengers across the country.
