What’s inside:
This article talks about a new OTP system for booking train tickets to enhance security and transparency.
The railway department has introduced a new system to make booking instant tickets more secure and transparent. Starting from Wednesday, this system is now available for certain Vande Bharat trains, similar to what was already implemented in Shatabdi Express trains.
With this new arrangement, passengers will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on their mobile phones. They must enter this OTP within the given time to successfully book their tickets. This change aims to ensure that only genuine passengers can book tickets, reducing fraudulent activities.
The OTP system is currently active on two routes of Vande Bharat: Rani Kamalapati to Hazrat Nizamuddin and Rani Kamalapati to Rewa. As a result, there will be fewer blocked tickets, meaning more availability for real travelers, which is a big benefit.
It’s important for passengers to keep their mobile numbers active and ensure they have good network coverage when booking tickets. They should also check their mobile data and balance since the OTP has a limited time for use.
From now on, whether booking through the IRCTC website, app, or reservation counters, the OTP verification will be mandatory. This step is expected to make the ticket booking process safer and more reliable.
Summary:
- New OTP system for instant ticket booking in trains.
- Implemented on Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express trains.
- Only real passengers will receive OTP for ticket booking.
- Passengers must ensure mobile numbers are active and updated.
- OTP verification required for all booking methods.
