Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently announced that 101 railway stations in West Bengal will be renovated. This plan is part of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, aiming to improve facilities for passengers.
During his visit to New Jalpaiguri railway station, he reviewed the ongoing modernization work that costs around 500 crores. The upgrades will include modern waiting rooms, lifts, escalators, and better restrooms.
These improvements will enhance the travel experience for passengers. More passenger and mail trains will operate from this station in the future, ensuring better connectivity between North Bengal and other parts of India.
Two new platforms and a new IT hub are also being added to the station. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express train from Malda Town, which will travel overnight with modern amenities.
This new train service will strengthen connectivity between the Northeast and Bengal. Additionally, the Prime Minister will announce a dozen new trains for the state, further benefiting the local population.
