The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has officially released a revised food menu for the Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. This update specifically focuses on the newly launched Howrah–Kamakhya route. While the service initially started with a vegetarian-only menu, the authorities have now introduced non-vegetarian options and regional delicacies to serve passengers better. This change comes after regular commercial operations began in late January 2026.

Regional Dishes and Non-Veg Options
The new menu follows an origin-based model, meaning the food changes depending on the direction of travel to match local tastes. For the first time on this sleeper route, chicken dishes have been formally included.

Passengers should note that non-vegetarian options are currently limited to chicken only, and items like fish or mutton are not on the list. IRCTC has also implemented strict packaging rules to ensure quality.
- Portion Size: The non-veg serving must contain 50–60 grams of boneless chicken along with 70 grams of gravy.
- Safety Labels: All food packets will carry a QR Code. This allows passengers to check the FSSAI license number, weight, and date of packing.
- Meal Costs: Standard breakfast charges range from ₹122 to ₹155 depending on the class. Lunch and dinner prices are set between ₹222 and ₹244.
- Service: Meals are served in color-coded trays to easily distinguish between vegetarian and non-vegetarian orders.
