Passengers traveling between Patna and Gopalganj have received a major update from the Indian Railways. The Ministry of Railways has officially issued a notification to make the Patna-Thawe Intercity Express a permanent service. Previously running as a special train, this service will now operate daily without the need for monthly extensions. The official notification was released on February 11, 2026, and the regular operations under the new permanent status will stabilize by March 1, 2026.
What are the new timings for the Patna-Thawe Intercity?
The train will now follow a daily schedule to help daily commuters and students. According to the proposed timings, the train departs from Patna Junction at 12:10 PM and arrives at Thawe Junction at 07:00 PM. For the return journey, it leaves Thawe at 08:00 PM and reaches Patna Junction at 03:00 AM. Railway officials are currently finalizing minor adjustments to these slots to avoid delays with other express trains on this route.
How much is the ticket price compared to bus fares?
Traveling by this train will save passengers a significant amount of money compared to road transport. While bus fares for the Patna to Gopalganj route are approximately ₹500, the general class ticket for this train costs between ₹105 and ₹110. The train also offers higher classes, with fares going up to ₹795 for AC coaches. This low-cost option is a direct relief for patients and government employees who travel frequently to the state capital.
