The Uttar Pradesh government has cleared the proposal for a new railway overbridge in Achhnera, Agra. This project involves an estimated investment of 59 crore rupees on the Eidgah-Bandikui rail section. Residents of several villages had been demanding this bridge for a long time to avoid heavy traffic jams at the railway crossing. The construction will provide a much-needed relief to the local population and improve the overall transport system in the region.
What are the main features of the upcoming Achhnera railway overbridge?
The project will be built at railway gate number 20, specifically at kilometer 0027/5-6 on the Achhnera-Jhundawai road. It will be a two-lane overbridge designed to handle heavy vehicle movement. The state government has already sanctioned 16.06 crore rupees as the first installment to kickstart the process. The Public Works Department will oversee the construction after completing the necessary technical formalities and approvals. This bridge is part of the state’s plan to remove bottlenecks at busy rail crossings.
How will the new bridge impact the local community and commuters?
According to officials, the bridge will directly benefit more than one lakh people living in the surrounding rural areas. It will provide a permanent solution to the massive traffic snarls that occur every time the railway gate closes. This will help farmers and local traders move their products faster to the markets without any delays. Member of Parliament Rajkumar Chahar and MLA Chaudhary Babulal stated that this project was a priority for regional connectivity and safety. The overbridge will ensure that movement remains smooth and safe for all travelers in the Fatehpur Sikri area.
