The construction of the elevated railway track from Anwarganj to Mandhana in Kanpur is now gaining momentum. The project aims to eliminate traffic jams caused by 17-18 railway crossings on GT Road, benefiting around 50 lakh residents. The Ministry of Railways has finalized the tender for this 15.51 km long corridor with a private company.

ℹ: Chandigarh Railway Station: World-class redevelopment project deadline extended to August 2026।

What will be the impact on stations and trains?

To facilitate the construction, the 146-year-old Rawatpur and Kalyanpur stations will be closed. Railway officials have sought permission from the Railway Board for route diversion. Around 50-60 daily trains, including the Kalindi and Barauni Express, will be affected. Some passenger trains may be diverted via Kasganj to Mandhana, while long-distance trains might be routed through Shikohabad and Tundla to reach Kanpur Central.
