Where can you take your dog in the train?
Pet dogs are only allowed to travel with the passenger in First AC or First Class. To do this, the passenger must book the entire coupe or cabin. Permission from the TTE and consent from fellow passengers are also necessary. Dogs are strictly prohibited in Sleeper Class, AC Sleeper, AC Chair Car, and other coach categories.
What are the booking options and required documents?
Passengers can also transport dogs, cats, and other pets through the parcel office or brake van. In this case, the animal is kept in a dog box near the guard. For booking, passengers must visit the station parcel office with the following documents:
- Health Certificate issued by a veterinarian
- Vaccination Certificate
- Owner’s ID proof
What are the charges and other conditions?
The transport fee depends on the weight of the animal and the distance. Additional charges include a 2 percent development charge and 5 percent GST. For brake van bookings, every dog is considered to weigh 30 kg.
