The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is carrying out a major redevelopment of the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS). To manage the crowd during this construction, the Railway Ministry will shift several trains to other stations. Which trains will be shifted and where
A proposal to shift approximately 30 trains has been submitted to the Railway Board for approval. Among these, the Vaishali Express, which runs from Lalitgram to New Delhi, will now be operated from Shakur Basti station. Other trains may be diverted to Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi Safdarjung, and Shakur Basti to ensure smooth operations.
When will these changes take effect
The redevelopment project is expected to last for about four years. While the station will not be closed completely, the shift of these 30 trains is expected to be effective from July 1, 2026. Officials are working to get the necessary approvals before the festive season to avoid passenger inconvenience.

Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared that the redevelopment focuses on a futuristic design and enhanced safety. The new plan includes the installation of 1,500 AI-based cameras for better security. The work is progressing rapidly, and the goal is to create a world-class transit hub for passengers.
