Indian Railways is planning to start the country’s first AC coach Amrit Bharat Express between Bhagalpur and Ahmedabad. This service is an extension of the existing Patna-Ahmedabad train. The project received approval from Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and is expected to start by November 2026.

The Eastern Railway has prepared a detailed schedule for the new service. The train will operate on a weekly basis as per the following details:

What are the new features and infrastructure updates
Unlike previous Amrit Bharat trains that had only non-AC coaches, this version will feature AC coaches with modern interior designs. To support this, a double shunting line for rake maintenance is being built at Bhagalpur station. This work is expected to be finished by August or September 2026.
