The bridge stands 36 metres tall, which is roughly the height of a 12-storey building, and stretches for 480 metres. It is located between the Sabarmati and Ahmedabad stations. To build this, engineers used the balanced cantilever method, which allows construction without needing scaffolding in the water.

Feature Details
Total Length 480 Metres
Total Height 36 Metres
Total Piers 8 Circular Piers
Pier Diameter 6 to 6.5 Metres
Pier Height 31 to 34 Metres
Span Length 76 Metres

What is the current status of the construction?

All eight circular piers are finished, with four located in the riverbed, two on the banks, and two outside. Out of the total spans, three have been completed. Currently, the team is working on the superstructure, which includes casting segments and building pier heads. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) confirmed that the work is moving steadily.

How was the river flow managed during work?

The construction team ensured that the Sabarmati River’s water flow remained uninterrupted. They used Hume pipe culverts in temporary embankments and kept a natural discharge channel open. This approach prevented any blockage of water while the heavy foundation work was being carried out.
