Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary reviewed the progress of the Patna Metro Rail project on April 27, 2026. He directed officials to quickly connect the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) and Rajendra Nagar Terminal to Patna Junction. This move aims to make commuting easier for passengers moving between the bus terminal, railway stations, and the city.
What is the current status of Patna Metro construction?
The project is moving forward with several key updates. A 2.9 km stretch from ISBT to Bhoothnath became operational on October 6, 2025. Currently, work is fast on Corridor-2, where the first underground tunnel between Moin-ul-Haq Stadium and Rajendra Nagar is expected to be finished by April 2026. The Indian Railways also gave the necessary NOC on March 10, 2026, to restart tunnel excavation.
How is the work progressing at Rajendra Nagar Terminal?
TBM machines are working 24/7 to dig tunnels beneath the Rajendra Nagar Terminal. This work is happening directly under operational railway tracks. To keep everything safe, engineers are using Soil Pressure Balancing and Ground Support Systems. This ensures that train services are not disturbed while the metro tunnel is built underground.
