The central government has officially approved the extension of the Delhi Metro Golden Line in South Delhi. This new elevated corridor is designed to improve connectivity across major neighborhoods. Spanning approximately 3.9 kilometers, the route will connect Tughlakabad directly to Kalindi Kunj. This project is part of the Phase-4 expansion and aims to reduce traffic congestion on roads while offering a reliable public transport option.

Which new stations are part of this route?

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has finalized the alignment for this fully elevated corridor. It will consist of four stations that bridge the gap between the Violet Line and the Magenta Line. This strategic connection allows seamless travel for passengers coming from different parts of the NCR.

  • Tughlakabad: Interchange station connecting with the Violet Line.
  • Sarita Vihar Depot: A new station serving the local depot area.
  • Madanpur Khadar: Will serve the residential areas along the river.
  • Kalindi Kunj: Interchange station connecting with the Magenta Line.

When will the project be completed?

The estimated cost for this specific 3.9 km extension is ₹1,024.8 crore. Authorities have set a deadline to complete the construction within the next three years, targeting 2028-29 for operations. Once ready, this line will feature driverless train operations (DTO). This route is expected to benefit commuters travelling between Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram by providing a shorter and faster interchange loop.
