The recently concluded Mahakumbh in Prayagraj saw millions of devotees participating, leading to massive crowds at railway stations across the country. The situation worsened at New Delhi Railway Station, where a stampede-like scenario emerged. Learning from this, the Indian Railways has now introduced new measures to improve passenger safety and convenience.

New Rules to Manage Crowds at Railway Stations

To prevent chaos and ensure smoother passenger movement, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced major crowd control measures for 60 key railway stations across India.

What Changes Are Being Implemented?

✅ Dedicated Waiting Areas outside stations where passengers can wait comfortably before their train arrives.
✅ Only passengers with imminent train departures will be allowed inside the station premises.
✅ Pilot testing already underway at New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Patna railway stations.
✅ Special focus on elderly and children to help them avoid overcrowded conditions.

Only Confirmed Ticket Holders Will Be Allowed Entry!

To tackle the problem of overcrowding caused by ticketless travelers, the Railways is introducing a strict access control system at 60 major stations.

🚉 Entry will be restricted to only those passengers who have a confirmed ticket.
🚉 Unauthorized entry points will be permanently closed to enhance security.
🚉 This move aims to reduce unauthorized travel and improve station management.

How Will Passengers Benefit?

✅ Less crowding at railway stations
✅ Reduced risk of stampedes and chaotic situations
✅ Better waiting and seating facilities for passengers
✅ Improved safety for senior citizens, women, and children
✅ Overall enhanced passenger experience

Will This Plan Succeed?

The Railways expects these new measures to effectively control crowds at major stations. However, its success will depend on passenger cooperation and efficient implementation.

🚆 If proven effective, this model may be expanded to other major railway stations across the country
