The Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express has seen a massive response from passengers since its regular operations began. According to data released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Ministry of Railways on May 12, 2026, the service carried around 45,000 passengers in its first 10 days of run. The train has become a popular choice for people traveling to the Kashmir Valley.

What are the ridership and occupancy numbers?

The train services recorded a strong start with 28,762 passengers traveling in the first week alone. From May 2 to May 11, a total of 44,727 passengers used the services in both directions. The average occupancy has remained at 86.5%, and on May 10, it reached a peak of 98.21%.

What is the train schedule and route?

The service operates with two pairs of Vande Bharat trains to ensure better connectivity. The journey offers views of the Chenab Rail Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge. The schedule is as follows:

It provides a reliable alternative to national highways, which often face disruptions due to snowfall or landslides. The service was flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on April 30, 2026, following the inauguration of the USBRL link by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2025.
