With the Holi festival approaching in 2026, the railway police in Bhagalpur have shifted into high gear to ensure passenger safety. Rail Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Umeshwar Chaudhary reviewed the security arrangements on Wednesday, February 25. To manage the heavy crowd and prevent crimes during the festive rush, a formal demand for 50 additional police personnel has been sent to the headquarters. The police are taking every step to ensure travelers can reach home safely.
Special Task Force Against Drugging Gangs
One of the biggest threats during festivals is the “Nasha Khurani” gang, criminals who drug and rob passengers. To fight this, a special 16-member task force has been formed. This force is divided into four sub-teams equipped with microphones to make announcements.
Four of these teams have already been dispatched towards the Bengal border. Their main job is to alert travelers at various stations about the dangers of these gangs. Passengers are strongly advised not to accept food or drinks from strangers, as this is the most common method used by robbers.
Strict Rules for Passengers and Stone Pelting Prevention
The police have identified specific spots where stone-pelting on trains has happened in the past. To prevent this, extra Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel will be deployed at these suspicious locations. Officers are monitoring suspects closely to avoid any disruption.
For general travel, strict rules are in place:
- Only passengers with confirmed tickets can enter reserved AC and Sleeper coaches.
- Smoking and alcohol consumption are strictly banned on railway property.
- A Riot Control Squad is on 24-hour “ready mode” across the state.
ASP Umeshwar Chaudhary has emphasized that negligence in duty will not be tolerated. Both officers and personnel will be held accountable if security lapses occur during this critical period.
