What’s inside:

People returning to Bihar for Holi are facing seat shortage in trains. Find out more about the situation here.

In Bihar, people from Delhi, UP, Punjab, Bengaluru, and other states return for Holi on 4th March. However, this year, there is a problem a month in advance. Seats in many important trains have been fully booked from 25th February to 3rd March. Tickets were quickly booked as soon as the counters opened. It is expected that a similar situation will continue even after Holi.

Trains like Tejas Rajdhani Express, Sampurna Kranti Express, Seemanchal Express, Brahmaputra Mail, Vikramshila Express, Avadh Assam Express, and Nandan Kanan Express have confirmed bookings. The railways have not announced any special trains for Holi yet.

People have limited options left. Those who haven’t booked tickets or are on the waiting list can try for tatkal tickets. However, the number of seats is limited, and tickets may not be available. Another option is the Bihar government’s decision to run 200 special buses from about 10 states to Bihar for Holi from 23rd February to 23rd March. Ticket bookings for these buses will start from 6th February.

Trains on the East Central Railway’s 4238-kilometer route will operate with the ‘Kavach’ security system. This will increase the speed of trains by 30 kilometers per hour. As per the orders of GM Chhatrasal Singh, the Kavach system has been implemented on the 93.3-kilometer-long Manpur Sarmatand section of the DDYU-Pradhan Khanta Railkhanda.

Summary:

  • Seats fully booked in key trains.

  • Options left for passengers: Tatkal tickets or special buses.

  • Trains to have increased speed with ‘Kavach’ security system.

  • Special buses for Holi from 23rd Feb to 23rd March.

  • Bookings for special bus services start from 6th Feb.
