Indian Railways has updated the travel rules for passengers with disabilities. Now, people holding a valid Unique Disability ID (UDID) card can travel in the specially designed SLRD and LSLRD coaches of Mail and Express trains. This move aims to make train travel easier and more organized for Divyangjan passengers.

Who can travel in Divyangjan coaches?
Passengers who have a valid UDID card issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities are eligible. Additionally, those who are already entitled to railway concessions for disabilities can also use these coaches. It is mandatory for these passengers to carry a valid train ticket or travel authority along with their ID card.
What are the specific rules and enforcement?
The Railway Board issued these guidelines to all zonal railways to remove confusion regarding documents. Sanjay Manocha, Director of the Railway Board, confirmed that UDID card holders are bona fide passengers for these specific coaches. To ensure the facility is not misused, the railways will take strict action against unauthorized passengers under the Railway Act, 1989.
