IRCTC’s Book Now, Pay Later Scheme

If you are planning to travel by train but do not have the funds available for tickets, you can take advantage of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’s (IRCTC) special scheme called “Book Now, Pay Later.” This initiative allows travelers to book their train tickets immediately and defer the payment to a later date, making it easier for those who may face temporary financial constraints.

Booking Process

To utilize the Book Now, Pay Later option, users must first log in to their accounts on the IRCTC website (irctc.co.in) or through the IRCTC app. After selecting the desired train and seat, travelers can choose the “Pay Later” option on the payment page. Two alternatives will then appear: Epaylater and Cashe. Users can select one based on their convenience. If you already have an account with either service, log in; otherwise, you will need to create a new account to proceed with the booking.

Payment Terms and Conditions

Once the booking is confirmed, travelers will need to complete the payment within 14 days if using Epaylater, or according to the prescribed timeframe if using Cashe. It is important to note that failing to pay on time may incur additional charges, specifically a 3.5 percent service fee. Additionally, access to this facility is not universally available; eligibility is determined by previous transactions and the user’s relationship with Epaylater or Cashe. Some additional fees may also apply for utilizing this service.
