Passengers planning to travel through the Lucknow and Bhagalpur routes over the next two days should check their train status immediately. Railway authorities have announced a block in the Lucknow division to upgrade the signaling system near Vyas Nagar. This essential maintenance work will disrupt train services for 48 hours starting February 25, causing route changes for several major trains and delays for others.
Which trains are diverted via Kanpur and DDU?
Due to the modernization work, many popular trains will not stop at their usual stations like Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Varanasi. Instead, these trains will be diverted via Kanpur Central, Prayagraj, Chunar, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction. This change applies primarily to trains scheduled for February 25 and one train on February 26. Passengers should note that these trains will skip the regular stops on the blocked route.

What are the expected delays and refund rules?
Apart from diversions, some trains will run late because they will be stopped at different stations to manage traffic. On February 25, the Yog Nagri Rishikesh-Howrah Doon Express (13010) and the Amritsar-Howrah Mail (13006) are expected to run late by about 3 hours. On the next day, the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express (12381) might see a delay of one hour, while the Jammu Tawi-Patna Archana Express (12356) could be delayed by 2.5 hours.
The railways have specific rules for such disruptions to help passengers. If your train is diverted and does not touch your boarding or destination station, you can claim a full refund without any deduction. Also, if a train is late by more than three hours at the starting station, you are entitled to a full refund if you cancel the ticket. Northern Railway officials suggest using the NTES app or calling 139 for the latest live status before leaving for the station.
