The Railway Board has sanctioned 32 lakh rupees for the survey of a 16-kilometer-long railway bypass in the Mau region. This new line will run from Kirihirapur to Ratanpura, connecting the Indara-Phephna and Bhatni-Varanasi sections. The project aims to solve the problem of freight train congestion on the busy Bhatni-Varanasi route.

What are the benefits of the new Mau and Indara bypass lines?

The railway is working on two major bypass projects to improve train movement. The 15 km Khurhat-Pipridih bypass will eliminate the need for trains to take a U-turn and change engines at Mau Junction, which will save about one hour of travel time between Varanasi and Azamgarh. The recent 16 km Indara bypass will further ease the pressure on freight traffic before it reaches Indara.

What are the latest updates on Mau Junction development?

The government has sanctioned 21 crore rupees for the overall development of the station, which includes building three new stabling lines to fix train parking issues. General Manager Uday Borwankar and DRM Ashish Jain recently inspected the site to ensure the work is completed on time with high quality.
