The viral flu outbreak in Patna is spreading rapidly, causing concern among doctors and patients.
In Patna, the viral flu outbreak is spreading quickly, with a rise in cases of cold, high fever, and persistent cough. The number of patients dealing with these symptoms is increasing in both government and private hospitals.
Hospitals like IGMS, PMCH, NMCH, Patna AIMS, and several private facilities are experiencing a surge in outpatient department (OPD) visits, with loads increasing by 25 to 40 percent.
Doctors note that even after the fever subsides, patients continue to have a cough for 7 to 10 days, indicating the seriousness of the infection. Specialists suggest that this could be a subtype of influenza A, H3N2, which is being closely monitored.
The areas with dense populations in the city are witnessing the highest impact of the viral flu. Clinics in locations like Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Buddha Colony, Boring Road, Rajiv Nagar, Gola Road-Danapur, Kurji, and Patel Nagar-Shastri Nagar are seeing a significant influx of patients.
Health experts warn against taking antibiotics for viral flu, as they are ineffective and can lead to antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Precautions like maintaining distance, wearing masks, increasing fluid intake, and getting plenty of rest are advised to prevent the spread of the infection.
