Western Railway has announced a significant maintenance block on the night of March 21 and 22, 2026. This major work will impact suburban train services in the Mumbai section, specifically focusing on the Prabhadevi area and the Vasai Road-Virar stretch. Passengers are advised to check the revised schedule before planning their journey as several trains will be cancelled or reversed during this period.
Major block at Prabhadevi: What are the train changes?
The maintenance work at Prabhadevi station is scheduled to take place from 01:30 hrs to 06:00 hrs. During this window, there will be no train movement between Churchgate and Prabhadevi stations. This is expected to affect the early morning commute for many passengers who rely on the Western Line. Trains that usually run to Churchgate will be managed through alternative arrangements at intermediate stations.
- No train services will operate between Churchgate and Prabhadevi during the block hours
- Trains will not provide halts at Matunga Road and Mahim stations
- Suburban locals will short terminate or reverse from Dadar and Bandra stations
- Some Mail and Express trains will be regulated by the railway authorities
Vasai Road to Virar jumbo block schedule
A four-hour jumbo block is also planned on the UP and DOWN local lines between Vasai Road and Virar. This work will start at 00:15 hrs and continue until 04:15 hrs. This block is necessary for the maintenance of tracks, signaling systems, and overhead equipment to ensure safety and reliability. During these hours, local trains will be diverted to run on the through lines (fast lines) between Vasai Road, Virar, and Borivali.
| Block Location | Timings | Nature of Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Prabhadevi Section | 01:30 to 06:00 | No trains to Churchgate |
| Vasai Road – Virar | 00:15 to 04:15 | Locals diverted to through lines |
Western Railway has requested passengers to take note of these changes to avoid any last-minute confusion. Detailed information regarding the cancelled and rescheduled trains is available at all Station Master offices across the network. The authorities have expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by these essential infrastructure works.
