Women from Dehradun halted a Vande Bharat train to protest against water supply issues in their area.

Recently, women from the Deepnagar Railway Colony in Dehradun stopped a Vande Bharat train going to Lucknow. They protested by sitting on the tracks, which caused quite a stir among railway officials.

The women were upset because their families have been facing a severe water shortage for a long time. The issue arose after a motor burnt down on October 8, leading to no water supply in their area since then.

After the officials arrived and spoke to the protesters, they assured that water supply would be restored from Thursday. They promised to send three water tankers daily until the situation improved.

About 70 families live in the Deepnagar Railway Colony, and they have been relying on water tankers, which are not enough to meet their needs. The protest began around 1:30 PM when the train was scheduled to depart.

After receiving assurances from the authorities, the women agreed to end their protest, allowing the train to leave on time. This incident highlighted the ongoing water crisis faced by the community.

  • The protest caused concern among railway officials.

  • They have been facing water supply issues since October 8.

  • Officials promised daily water tankers until the supply is restored.
