What’s inside:

This article discusses Banspani, India’s smallest railway station, highlighting its features and significance.

Banspani railway station in Odisha is known as India’s smallest railway station. It is located in the Joda Municipality Town and measures just 140 meters long. It has only one platform, making it easy to know where to catch your train.

This station is quite different from the busy ones like New Delhi or Nizamuddin. It’s surrounded by beautiful green landscapes, offering a peaceful atmosphere. Currently, only a few short trains can stop here as it can’t accommodate large express trains.

Only three trains currently service Banspani station: the Brahmapur-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express, the Barbil-Puri Express, and the Tatanagar-Visakhapatnam SF Express. The facilities here are basic, with a simple waiting area for passengers.

Even though it is small, Banspani plays an important role in connecting remote parts of Odisha, especially the Keonjhar district. It was built mainly to help transport minerals like iron ore from the area and connects local communities to larger towns.

In summary, Banspani railway station may be tiny, but it serves a vital purpose in the region. It helps people travel and transport resources, contributing to the local economy despite its limited size.

Summary:

  • Banspani is India’s smallest railway station in Odisha.

  • The station has only one platform and is 140 meters long.

  • It services three short passenger trains currently.

  • The station connects remote areas to larger towns.

  • It plays a key role in transporting local minerals.
