Bihar’s railway budget sees a significant increase in funding and new projects, enhancing travel facilities and infrastructure.
The latest railway budget has brought great news for Bihar. The central government has allocated ₹10,379 crores for railways in the state for the year 2026-27, which is almost nine times more than the average of ₹1,132 crores from 2009 to 2014.
This big increase shows that the government is focusing on improving railway infrastructure in Bihar. Last year, ₹10,033 crores were set aside for similar projects, indicating a steady rise in funding.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 98 railway stations in Bihar will be upgraded with world-class facilities under the Amrit Station scheme. Currently, there are 14 pairs of Vande Bharat Express, 21 pairs of Amrit Bharat Express, and one pair of Namoh Bharat Express running in the state.
Since 2014, about 2,000 kilometers of new railway tracks have been built in Bihar, exceeding even Malaysia’s entire railway network. Additionally, all railway tracks in the state have been electrified, ensuring a fully electrified railway system.
There are ongoing infrastructure projects worth ₹1,09,158 crores in Bihar. The redevelopment of 98 Amrit Bharat stations is also underway, with some stations like Thave and Pirpainti already completed.
