Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has shared that during the Congress period from 2009 to 2014, Delhi’s railway received an average of ₹96 crore each year. Now, this amount has jumped to around ₹2,700 crore per year.
In a recent press conference, he mentioned that with the increased budget, work on redeveloping railway stations, safety measures, new rail lines, and improving passenger facilities has sped up. Currently, there are railway projects in Delhi costing ₹8,976 crore.

Some key updates include the development of new platforms and upgraded traffic systems. The redevelopment process also includes stations like Safdarjung, Old Delhi, and Narela, among others.
As for the next steps, the construction at the Safdarjung station is almost finished, and the work at the Delhi Cantonment station is progressing quickly. The final tests for hydrogen trains will also be conducted soon, with an inauguration expected shortly.
