What’s inside:

A new special train has arrived in Jamalpur to test track speed, aiming to increase train speeds on the Malda to Kiul route.

A special train recently reached Jamalpur to check the speed of trains on the Malda to Kiul railway line. This is great news for passengers in Jamalpur, Munger, Bhagalpur, and Kiul. The Eastern Railway has plans to increase the current speed limit from 110 km/h to 130 km/h.

As part of this update, work has begun to replace the old track switches at various locations. The railway also aims to remove caution signals along the route. A special track recording car (TRC) arrived from the Railway Board in New Delhi to assist with this process.

This TRC traveled between Bhagalpur and Kiul at the current speed of 110 km/h to identify any issues in the tracks. The TRC team included railway officials responsible for monitoring and maintenance, who noted any track deficiencies during the journey.

The installation of new track switches is part of a larger upgrade to improve speed and safety. Currently, there are about 105 points at Jamalpur station, and work is being done to install new track switches to enhance train operations.

After a scheduled block for maintenance, services resumed with the Farakka Express being the first train to operate post-upgrade. More high-speed trains are expected to run in the future, transitioning from the current speed of 110 km/h to over 130 km/h in the new year.

Summary:

  • A special train has tested speeds on the Malda to Kiul route.

  • Train speeds are set to rise from 110 km/h to 130 km/h soon.

  • New track switches are being installed across stations.

  • Maintenance work involved a temporary block for train operations.

  • More high-speed trains will be introduced in the coming months.
